Sharper Track

I worked with my friends at Tusk Soft and led design for an e-tailer inventory management and accounting tool called Sharper Track.

The E-tail World

E-tailers sell products online through various outlets, buying from overseas manufacturers, staging in US based third party warehouses, and then shipping product directly to the buyer often without ever handling it. E-tailers need a way to track their inventory, manage shipments, and account for all the fees, surcharges, and other costs associated with moving product.

Process

I took a basic idea and some spreadsheets and turned them into a design for a finished product. I then worked with the team at Tusk Soft, consulting as they built the platform. Along the way I did stakeholder interviews, competitor research, wireframes, and final mockups.

Navigation

The app consists of many record-creation screens, reports, and dashboards. The navigation is laid out for easy comprehension and frictionless use.

Keeping Track

Dashboards help e-tailers track their total inventory value and location.

Simplifying

During design, I was able to shorten user workflows and make the product more flexible. A wizard proposed by the team resulted in unnecessary steps that reduced a user’s power and control over the software and increased interaction tax. I combined it all into a single page that enables a user to add and edit everything required for a shipment record -- simplifying their work, increasing learnability, and keeping them in control.
